Project Morning Star
Residential Recovery
Bobette came to our program from an in-patient treatment facility, seeking to start a new life, free of the addiction and behaviors that have caused her so much trouble and pain in her past.  She had never heard of Project Morning Star, but Bobette prayed that this opportunity was the right direction on her path to reclaiming her life.  When she discovered that we were not far from her daughter and brand-new grandson, living in nearby Slayton, MN,  Bobette took it as a sign of God's will for her recovery.

Little did she expect that less than a month after arriving, she would get a call from her daughter, Shanon, now herself in desperate need of emergency shelter and a place to recover from her own issues of domestic turmoil and alcohol use.  Within twenty-four hours Shanon and her infant son, Ethan, were admitted into our program and given shelter at our women's residence.  A short time later, Shanon decided that this was exactly the right place to deal with her issues and gain strength in her recovery, and accepted our offer of extended transitional residence in our program.

Now, mother and daughter are finding strength in each other and faith in God's plans for their futures.  In their short time with our program, Bobette and Shanon have come to exemplify our hopes and aspirations for what recovery can be in everyone's life.  Bobette is a fountain of energy and activity; involved in Celebrate Recovery, a women's step-study group, volunteering at church and in the community, and giving back to our program in every way she can (her favorite phrases seem to be "what can I do" and "how can I help").  And Shanon, at first so anxious and unsure about her future, has found her smile and blossomed into a happy, confident young mother.

Both Bobette and Shanon have recently found employment with a veterinary science lab through our job placement program, and Shanon has gotten assistance in reinstating her driver's license and obtaining insurance through our benevolence program.  We are so proud of Bobette and Shanon, and so happy to see the beautiful transformation in their lives, their faith, and their futures.

"This organization has helped me in so many ways.  They have helped me to become a stronger, more independent person, and I'm so grateful to be able to have my son with me as I go through this process of recovery and growth.  Thank you!"
